Sydney Banks once said “If people were less afraid of their own experience, that alone would make the world a better place”. It’s something that has proved itself to me over and over again.
I know that when I feel stuck, overwhelmed or generally in a funk, I’ve started believing that my experience is coming from somewhere other than inside me. I start blaming the complexity of the situation, my lack of exposure to a problem, or that there’s something wrong with me. The reality is that I’ve innocently lost sight of my connectedness to life and the source of insight and fresh new thinking.
This typically happens when I think I’m separate from everyone or everything else, or believe I am an island in the sea of connectedness rather than a wave in and of the ocean. And, it’s the same for everyone else. When we think we are alone or separate from the source of life and we need to become ‘acceptable’, we feel fearful and anxious.
I recently reached out to a number of mission focused women in my network and asked them about their experiences and the same thing rang true. When they felt that they were alone and separate from the universe, they found their mission complex and challenging. When they feel connected, they are still challenged, but they know the next step to achieving clarity.
This is such an encouragement, because they don’t have to accept their circumstances or believe that something or someone outside of them is holding them back. If they relax into the knowledge that the answers will come when they connect with the universe, the intelligence behind life, they are calmer and so much more resourceful. The same is true for men of course, but my focus, at least for now is mission focused women, because they are an untapped resource of talent and insight and my mission is to gently tap them on the shoulder and wake them up to who they really are.
If you are a mission-focused woman and you feel separate and alone in your mission, know that there is hope and that you don’t need to prove yourself to anyone. Lean back into the knowledge that you have all the resources you need and see life flow.
